Interactive Workshops
All materials will be provided
12:30 – 1:00 Contemplative Photography - #lookclosely- The Practice of Noticing the Ephemeral and Opening up Worlds - Susanne Fairfax
Using our own cell phones, with macro lens attachments (provided), we will
see the tiny details that we usually overlook. We will go outside to explore
light, shadow, the seen and the unseen. We’ll exercise muscles of observation
and embrace ‘don’t know’ mind, waking us up to the interconnectedness of all
life.
1:15 – 1:45 Using Words to Release Language - Beth Jacobs
In this half hour, we will use simple writing structures and exercises that
refresh the experience of language. We will experiment with novel
approaches to structuring writing and describing sensory images. Your usage
of language can break free of habit and become a more creative force.
2:00 OPEN MIC - POETRY AND PROSE
2:45 - 3:15 Painting with Water - Maia Hubbard
In this watercolor exercise we will learn basic techniques to create natural
landscapes. All material provided.
3:30- 4:00 Adventures in the appraisal trade, or, how to avoid jail! – Michael Banks
Michael will be sharing with us not only some artistic history and characteristics of jade, but also his adventures in the appraisal trade. He is a great story teller at heart! This workshop is sure to be a fun way to close out
