Michael Banks
Michael Banks is an internationally known Asian art dealer and appraiser. He opened West End Antiques in 1973. Over the years, he has published numerous articles, appeared on educational cable television and has taught college level Asian art. He is a highly regarded appraiser of Asian and Tribal works of art for museum donations, personal and insurance needs. He is also an art student, creating his own art primarily in acrylics. Mike has been a practicing Zen Buddhist for two decades.

Susanne Fairfax
Susanne Fairfax is a long time practitioner of Zen Buddhism and member of Udumbara Sangha. Images and words have offered contemplative practices since childhood. These are part of the path that brought her to zen practice.
She was fortunate to study film with Trinh T. Minh-ha at San Francisco State. She received her MFA in Film, New Media and Installation Art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She taught at SAIC, Columbia College, UC Berkeley, community centers and women’s prisons. She currently produces video and photography for educational and non-profit sectors and works as a photo stylist. She’s Diversity Committee Chairperson at The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Illinois (SCBWI_IL).

Maia Hubbard
Maia Hubbard is a working artist and art therapist. She received her BA in Photography and Studio Art from Loyola University Chicago and her graduate degree in Art Therapy from The School of the Art Institute Chicago. While exploring identity, her work centers on creating uplifting images of women of color. She is influenced by ornate patterns, Dutch wax prints and art deco design.
Maia took her Bodhisattva Vows in 2011 and is the Assistant to the Director and Webmaster for Udumbara Zen Sangha.
Beth Jacobs
Beth Jacobs is a long time Zen Buddhist practitioner and the President of the Board of Directors of Udumbara Zen Sangha of Evanston. She has been in the therapeutic writing field for 25 years including volunteer work as the expressive writing groups and projects facilitator at Family Focus of Evanston.
Beth is the author of several books including Writing for Emotional Balance, Paper Sky: What Happened After Anne Frank’s Diary Ended, and soon to be released by North Atlantic Books, The Original Buddhist Psychology: What the Abhidharma Tells Us About How We Think, Feel, and Experience Life.
