Whether we are 13, 30, 60 or 80 years old, the human aging process is ripe with physical and mental joy and challenges. Together we will explore the particular challenges we face as we mature into the later stages of life.
Topics we will talk about include:
This workshop is the beginning of a discussion, not the end of a process. We are not going to seek definite answers, but instead develop questions and markers for development and further exploration.
Workshop Facilitators:
Rev. Tricia Teater is a hospice and palliative care team member, retired public administrator, and Zen Buddhist practitioner and priest, having received dharma transmission from Roshi Diane Martin. Rev.
Rev. Chuck Hutchcraft is also an ordained Zen Buddhist priest, as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working with people in all stages of life.
Topics we will talk about include:
- How do we clearly see, move with direction and sustain our complete effort in order to ‘steer’ vs ‘slide’ into the final years of our life?
- How do we dissolve fixed and trapped attitudes that diminish us and keep us from actualizing the path to more fully living our remaining years?
- How has what we feared proven not to be a complete or useful view of reality?
- How do Buddhist insights and original Buddhist teachings support us through these years - from the 4 Noble Truths and the 8 Fold Path to the Five Hindrances and the Wheel of Life?
- How do we as a community support each other, as well as supporting members of the larger community who need our help?
- How do we share what we have learned with our family and our community?
